New 5-Song EP Coming August 2019!
The last time I released an EP it was literally back in the 1900s — and it was on cassette! I have teamed up, once again, with blocSonic Records to release a 5-song EP entitled Barely Nearly. Stay tuned because it’s dropping soon!
“Unofficial” Subway Cameo Video Released
A television broadcasting student from Conestoga College in Ontario kindly contacted me to let me know he used “Subway Cameo” for a video project. This is the first video project for my latest single (that I know of). A really nice production, really well done and thoughtful. It’s always appreciated when folks who use Creative Commons music have the decency to contact the songwriter (not everyone does) — for it not only lets us know that a song of ours has been used, but it gives us a chance to actually check out what the project maker has taken time to put together. It’s all about sharing. The students found “Subway Cameo” on FMA, a great source for Creative Commons music. And make sure to check out blocSonic, my home-base Netlabel that never tires of helping me get my music all dolled up and ready for the web world of music. Cheers to our videographer friends to the north for their “unofficial” video of “Subway Cameo”. Check out their video!

I am very fortunate to have been able to collaborate with the brilliant Mark Garrison of Sound Garrison recording studios in Buffalo, NY and singer/songwriter phenom, the incomparable Charles Mansfield of NYC, without whom — along with Tone Master Alex Saltz of APS Mastering, and the patron saint of Creative Commons music, netlabel curator Michael Gregoire of blocSonic — this project would have never come together like it did. Thanks Guys! (And thanks, Tara, for keeping me relatively sane. Love you babe!)
(Even the 16bit version of the song is too big a file for this webpage. I’m working on that.)
“Gypsy Cab” 185,000 Hits and Counting
I am very pleased to announce that “Gypsy Cab” has reached over 185,000 hits/ “listens” (écoutes) and over 15,000 downloads (telechargements) on Auboutdufil.com, an outstanding netmusic site in France. Thank you Auboutdufil.com for picking up “Gypsy Cab” and featuring it on your site! Haven’t checked out Auboutdufil.com before? You should. Take some time to browse and listen, and you’ll quickly find music to enjoy. I guarantee it. They offer a great selection of Creative Commons music, featuring all genres from around the world. Un excellent site de musique! 175,000 et de comptage!
On this side of the pond, I’d like to thank Mike G. — music curator of homegrown American netlabel, blocSonic — who tirelessly seeks out and promotes the very best in Creative Commons music. Visit blocSonic and browse around, you’ll be glad you did. I’m proud to be a part of the blocSonic family. Thanks also to Alex at APS Mastering for his brilliant work on “Gypsy Cab”. Special thanks to my friend, engineer, and co-producer, Mark at Sound Garrison Recording Studio. Without his vision and perseverance to build a studio of our own, none of this would be happening. And importantly, I’d like to thank YOU the listener and visitor to this site. Without listeners, without people who actively seek out music, what’s the point?
PodCasting in the UK and Watermelon Short Shorts
I just found a really cool podcast site in the UK called The BugCast and was thrilled that they picked up “A Place Holder” for their bugcast #275 “Companionable Compositions”. You should listen to the whole cast and browse around the site–don’t forget to subscribe if you like–and “Place Holder” starts about 10:00 minutes in and then afterwards, the folks at BugCast have some nice things to say. (And I really should work on my Bio!) Cheers to the UK and the good people at BugCast! It’s a real trip to hear folks in South Yorkshire mention Buffalo!
Also, there’s a DIY video on YouTube that shows you how to make your very own watermelon shorts, and really, what could be cooler than that? Actually they’re not watermelon shorts, they are watermelon SHORT shorts (and all I can say about that is… meow!). These nice short-making folks used “Time Lines” to score their video, thanks! A really nicely done video!
